EMPORIA, Kan. — Members of the Bethel College Track and Field team competed this past weekend at the Emporia State Spring Open, turning in several solid performances against a competitive field.
In the men's 200 meters, Jason Klabo posted a time of 23.16, while the Threshers added depth in the 400 meters with Xavier Craven (57.39) and Damian Pineda (58.42). Craven also competed in the 400-meter hurdles, finishing in 1:04.44.
The distance group was active throughout the meet, highlighted by multiple entries in the 800 meters. Asa Johnson led the way with a time of 2:06.21, followed by Braylon Hunnell (2:10.18), while Ariana Cerda competed on the women's side, finishing in 2:58.19. Johnson also doubled back in the 1500 meters, recording a time of 4:27.56, with David Ultreras adding a mark of 4:39.46.
In the field events, Bethel added several notable performances. Darla Crow recorded a 5.35-meter mark in the long jump, while Grace Williams posted a throw of 10.91 meters in the shot put. On the men's side, Brayden Parker reached 32.20 meters in the discus, and Marcus Fiedler turned in a strong effort in the 3000-meter steeplechase, finishing in 10:07.71.
The meet provided Bethel with another opportunity to build experience and continue progression early in the outdoor season, competing alongside NCAA Division II and NAIA programs from across the region.
Bethel will look to carry that momentum into its next meet as the outdoor schedule continues.
