Track & Field Competes at Kansas Wesleyan Coyote Challenge

Salina, Kan. -- The Bethel College women's team opened competition with a strong showing in the field events on Friday. Freshman Grace Williams continued her impressive conference campaign, placing fifth overall in the shot put with a mark of 11.54m, which currently ranks her seventh in the conference. Williams also competed in the hammer throw, recording a personal best of 29.75m.

Saturday's throwing events were highlighted by sophomore Abigail Koontz, who captured the javelin title with a winning throw of 37.94m. She remains fifth overall in the conference standings. Senior Carley Bartel added another solid performance in the discus, placing sixth with a mark of 37.62m, and currently sits 10th in the conference. In the jumps, junior Darla Crow returned from a week off to place second overall in the long jump with a mark of 5.51m, moving her to fifth in the conference rankings.

On the track, senior Bethany Schrag led the way with a personal-record performance in the 5,000m, finishing second overall in 19:10.99 and improving to eighth in the conference. Junior Emma Graber followed with a personal best of 20:48.09, placing ninth overall. In the middle-distance events, junior Trayn Paulino recorded a season-best time of 2:32.80 in the 800m, finishing among the top 15. Freshman Arianna Cerda also delivered a personal best in the event, crossing in 2:47.24.

On the men's side, the Threshers were led in the field by freshman Thailyn Cox, who recorded a personal and season best of 10.31m in the shot put. Freshman Ethan Willcox placed sixth overall in the pole vault with a clearance of 3.30m.

On the track, freshman Bryalon Hunnell posted a personal best of 4:19.82 in the 1,500m. In the 5,000m, senior Marcus Fiedler led the way with a personal best of 16:07.12, followed by freshman Zane Basler, who also achieved a personal best of 17:27.07. The 800m featured two strong freshman performances, as Asa Johnson clocked a personal best of 1:56.29, with teammate Bryce Williams also recording a personal best of 2:07.19.

Overall, the Threshers demonstrated continued progress with multiple personal records and strong placements across both field and track events.
