HILLSBORO, Kan. – The Bethel College track and field team secured multiple victories and high-ranking conference marks at the Tabor College Invitational this past weekend.
Distance and Sprints
Asa Johnson led Bethel with a dominant double-victory, taking first place in both the 1,500m (4:23.60) and the 5,000m (16:32.88). In the 5,000m, Bethel achieved a full podium sweep with Marcus Fiedler finishing second (16:50.48) and Zane Basler taking third (18:25.11). Fiedler also earned a runner-up finish in the 1,500m.
The women's distance squad saw similar success in the 3,000m steeplechase. Bethany Schrag won the event in 12:39.83, moving into fourth in the KCAC standings, followed by Emma Graber in second place (13:16.49), who now ranks fifth in the conference.
On the track, Xavier Craven moved into the KCAC top 10 after finishing second in the 400m hurdles with a time of 58.11. Jason Klabo recorded a personal-best 22.70 in the 200m dash, placing him in the conference top 20.
Field Events
Freshman Grace Williams delivered a standout performance in the shot put, recording a personal-best throw of 11.95m to finish fourth. This mark moves her into fifth place in the KCAC standings. In the discus, senior Carley Bartell placed sixth with a mark of 37.42m, advancing to ninth in the conference, while freshman Brayden Parker threw a personal-best 40.41m to move into the top 15 of the men's standings.
Abigail Koontz added to the team's success in the field with a fourth-place finish in the javelin, recording a mark of 36.76m.
