NORTH NEWTON, Kan. — Bethel College (1-1-0, 0-0) fell to Northwestern (2-1-0, 0-0) with a final score of 1-0 on Saturday morning. Despite recording five saves, the Threshers were unable to overcome Northwestern's sole goal in the second half.
First Half
- Northwestern pressed early with two quick attempts, including a shot by Lucy Staines that went high at 2:44.
- Bethel's
Regina Mendoza forced a save from Northwestern's Ella Top at 7:33, marking Bethel's first shot on target.
- Aliza Edwards of Northwestern had multiple attempts, but her shot at 12:40 went high, and another at 27:38 was wide left.
- Bethel and Northwestern entered halftime in a scoreless deadlock, with both teams unable to convert their chances.
Second Period
- At 54:24, Northwestern's Hannah Gordon took a shot on goal, but it was saved by Bethel's
Harley Inskeep.
- Northwestern's Camryn Wilkinson notched the only goal of the period in the 74th minute, assisted by Mya Cole from a corner kick.

Malayasia Larque of Bethel nearly equalized with a shot that hit the crossbar.
- Northwestern maintained its lead to secure a 1-0 victory at the end of regulation.
Harley Inskeep recorded five saves while facing six shots, playing the full 90 minutes in the match. Mendoza contributed offensively with one shot on goal from her total of one shot.
Jocelyn Castillo also managed to get a shot on target, helping to apply pressure on the opposing defense.
Next for the Threshers, they will host Paul Quinn College on Saturday, Sept. 5, at 3 p.m. in North Newton, Kansas.
