SALINA, Kan. — Bethel lost to RV Kansas Wesleyan 67-17 on Saturday in a contest that started three hours after the original start time due to thunderstorms in Salina. The Threshers threw for 268 yards and two touchdowns but were held to 26 rushing yards and committed four turnovers.
The Threshers opened with a red-zone stop, keeping Kansas Wesleyan out of the end zone on downs while the game was still scoreless. Kansas Wesleyan later built a 37-0 advantage, but Bethel answered before halftime with a two-play scoring drive that took 40 seconds and ended in a touchdown. Bethel added another quick response early in the third quarter, moving the ball in 49 seconds for a touchdown to make it 37-14.
The Threshers did most of their offensive work through the passing game, throwing for 268 yards, but were held to 26 rushing yards and gave up six sacks.
Brady Norman threw for 205 yards, and
Josiah Buller provided a major receiving target with seven catches for 166 yards. Bethel also recovered two Kansas Wesleyan fumbles, while fumbling four times, losing three.
Buller caught seven passes for 166 yards and a touchdown. Norman completed 11 of 25 passes for 205 yards and two touchdowns.
Will Smiley led Bethel with nine tackles.
Raymond Escobedo made a 46-yard field goal and converted both PAT attempts.
