NORTH NEWTON, Kan. — Bethel played Science and Arts to a 4-4 tie Saturday.
Branden Balvanz scored off a
Kian Medeiros assist at 82:43 to put the Threshers ahead 4-3 before the match finished level.
First Half

Connell Silmon put Bethel ahead 1-0 at 2:03 off a
Calvin Bell assist, and
Esnayder Garcia scored at 3:42 to make it 2-0.
- Science and Arts cut the margin to 2-1 at 10:42 on an Archie Floate goal assisted by Juan Pablo Penagos, but
Hugo Duran scored from a Balvanz assist at 12:06 to give Bethel a 3-1 lead.
- Penagos scored at 25:08 to make it 3-2, and Science and Arts created late chances with
Diego Medina saving a Gavrilo Dordevic shot and Charlie Johnston hitting the post before the Threshers carried the 3-2 lead into halftime.
Second Half
- Medina made an early save on Balsa Popovic at 51:54 as Science and Arts generated the first shots of the half.
- With Bethel ahead 3-2, Science and Arts put together a stretch from 62:38 to 70:29 that included five shots and a corner kick, but Medina made a save on Henry Lynch and the Thresher defense blocked three attempts.
- Science and Arts tied the match 3-3 on Maxim Vukovic's goal at 74:43, before Silmon put a shot on goal and Balvanz eventually found the back of the net, assisted by Medeiros at 82:43 to put Bethel back in front, 4-3.
- Medina saved shots at 83:33 and 85:09, but Henry Lynch scored at 86:00 to bring Science and Arts even at 4-4, where the match finished.
Balvanz scored once, added an assist, and put both of his shots on goal. Silmon scored and led Bethel with three shots, including two on goal. Medina recorded seven saves over 90 minutes in goal. Garcia added an unassisted goal on his only shot attempt.
