OMAHA, Neb. — The Threshers opened up the CSM Labor Day Classic with a defeat Saint Francis (Ind.) 3-0 on Friday, winning 25-17, 25-20, 25-21. The next three contest for Bethel saw them take on nationally ranked opponents as they fell to #20 Morningside 3-1, #2 Northwestern 3-0, and #16 Midland 3-2.
First Set
- After the opening stretch reached 6-6, the Threshers won five straight points, starting with an
Alayna Vines kill and continuing through four Vines service points for an 11-6 lead.
- Saint Francis (Ind.) worked back within 14-11 behind three kills and a block, but the Threshers responded with kills from
Dylan Cochran, Vines,
Carsyn Drennan and
Cameron Offerle to move ahead 19-12.
- Cochran later pushed the Threshers to 24-17, and
Dalaina Schutte finished the set 25-17 with a kill from Offerle.
Second Set
- After Saint Francis (Ind.) moved ahead 3-1, the Threshers tied it on Mari Phillips' kill and went in front during
Abby Koontz's service turn, with a Cochran kill, a Vines block and another Phillips kill making it 6-3.
- Saint Francis (Ind.) pulled within 8-7 on a Katie Mills ace and a block-assisted error, but the Threshers kept the edge with kills from Offerle,
Darla Crow, Phillips and Cochran to reach 17-13.
- After Saint Francis (Ind.) cut it to 17-15, Schutte delivered a kill and Cochran followed with an ace before Vines served the Threshers to a 23-16 lead.
- Saint Francis (Ind.) fought off three set points to make it 24-20, but Offerle finished the set with a kill from Schutte for a 25-20 Threshers win.
Third Set
- Saint Francis (Ind.) scored the first five points and later stretched its lead to 12-2 during an opening push that included kills from Annabelle Sweigert and Nevaeh Plaster.
- The Threshers began cutting into the deficit with a Vines ace and an Offerle block, then Schutte added an ace during a stretch that brought the set to 15-11.
- Trailing 18-13, the Threshers scored six straight points behind a Crow kill, three Cochran kills, a block by Vines and Phillips, and a Saint Francis (Ind.) error to move ahead 19-18.
- After Saint Francis (Ind.) tied the set at 19, Cochran put the Threshers back in front with a kill, Vines added two late kills, and Cochran finished the 25-21 set win.

In their second match of day one of the CSM Labor Day Classic, Bethel lost to #20 Morningside 3-1, with set scores of 23-25, 18-25, 25-22, 24-26.
First Set
- The Threshers traded points early, with
Cameron Offerle and
Dylan Cochran kills helping pull the set even at 3-3 before Morningside moved ahead 11-6.
- The Threshers cut the gap to 14-12 behind kills from
Darla Crow and
Alayna Vines and a block by
Dalaina Schutte and Vines.
- Morningside later held a 23-20 edge, but a Schutte kill and two Morningside attack errors pulled the Threshers within 24-23 before the visitors closed the set 25-23.
Second Set
- Mari Phillips started the Threshers with a kill from Schutte, but Morningside won the next four points to move ahead 4-1 before a Crow kill and Offerle ace brought the Threshers back within 4-3.
- The Threshers later pulled even at 11-11 with Crow involved in three straight points, including two kills and a block on a Morningside attack error.
- Morningside answered with four consecutive points for a 15-11 lead, then stretched the margin to 19-12 behind blocking from Victoria Bouska and Kyla Dyrstad and a Bouska kill.
- The Threshers traded points late with kills from Schutte, Vines and Offerle, but Morningside closed the set 25-18 on an Aubrey Sandbothe kill.
Third Set
- Offerle helped the Threshers build an early 10-7 lead with four kills during the opening stretch. Offerle reached the 1250 kills milestone, now totaling 1264.
- The Threshers pushed the margin to 15-11 behind kills from Vines and Cochran and consecutive blocks involving Cochran,
Savannah Ung, Phillips and Vines.
- Morningside tied the set at 17-17 and later moved ahead 19-18 before a Schutte kill evened it at 19-19.
- A block by Vines and Phillips put the Threshers back in front 20-19, and the Threshers closed the set 25-22 on Phillips' kill from Schutte.
Fourth Set
- Morningside moved ahead 4-1 behind three Sidda Hagedorn kills, but the Threshers worked back to a 9-9 tie on consecutive Offerle kills.
- After Morningside went up 16-14,
Abby Koontz served the Threshers in front with an ace at 17-16, and kills by Vines and Offerle helped extend the lead to 24-19. Vines surpassed the 500 career points milestone, reaching a total of 503.
- Morningside closed the set with seven straight points, tying it at 24-24 before finishing a 26-24 set win.

Bethel lost its first match of day two of the CSM Labor Day Classic to #2 Northwestern 3-0, falling by set scores of 15-25, 13-25, 21-25.
First Set

Dylan Cochran put Bethel on the board at 2-1, but Northwestern followed with seven straight points to move ahead 9-1.
- Bethel got kills from

Abby Koontz, and Mari Phillips during the middle of the set, but Northwestern pushed the margin to 15-7 behind kills from Aubrey De Groot, Maddy Sampson, and Aubree Shields.

- Bethel moved ahead early, turning a 2-1 deficit into a 7-3 lead behind kills from Cochran,
Hannah Retallack, and Vines.
- Northwestern worked back to a 9-9 tie and later led 14-11 before Phillips and Vines helped Bethel answer with five straight points for a 16-14 lead.
- Bethel stayed in front at 19-16 after an Offerle kill, but Northwestern tied the set at 19-19 and again at 21-21.
- Northwestern scored the final four points to take the set 25-21.

The Threshers lost a 3-2 match to #16 Midland University. Bethel took the first two sets, 25-22 and 25-23, before Midland won the final three, including 15-13 in the fifth set.
First Set

- Bethel then won seven of eight rallies, getting kills from
Cameron Offerle,
Dalaina Schutte and Vines along with a
Dylan Cochran ace to build a 16-10 lead.
- Midland cut the score to 17-14 and later got within 24-22, but Offerle answered with kills at 18-14, 23-18, 24-20 and the final point as Bethel took the set 25-22.
Second Set
- Bethel took the first three points and built a 6-1 lead behind an Offerle kill, a
Savannah Ung kill and an
Abby Koontz service ace.
- After Midland got within 7-2, Bethel won five straight points on Schutte's serve, including two Schutte aces and an Offerle kill, to move ahead 12-2.
- Midland answered with a five-point stretch to cut the margin to 14-12, but Bethel kept the lead through kills from Ung, Offerle and Vines.
- Midland pulled within 24-23 late before Ung finished the set with a kill from Schutte, giving Bethel a 25-23 win.
Third Set
- The teams traded points through a 9-9 tie before Offerle helped Bethel move ahead 14-10 with a series of kills and a shared block with Vines.
- Midland answered with five straight points, including two Brooklyn Snyder kills, to move in front 15-14, but Bethel tied it on an Offerle kill and went back ahead 16-15 on a Midland bad set.
- The set stayed tight late, and kills by Mari Phillipps and Ung pulled Bethel even at 20-20 before Midland scored the final five points to take the set 25-20.
Fourth Set
- Bethel started with three Offerle kills to lead 4-2, but Midland moved ahead 10-5 during a stretch that included three blocks. Bethel cut the margin to 11-9 with a Cochran/Vines block, another Offerle kill and two Midland errors.
- After Avery Couch and Brooklyn Snyder kills pushed Midland to 14-10, Bethel got an Offerle kill and an
Abby Koontz ace to pull within 14-12, but Midland scored the next three points to extend the lead to 17-12.
- Bethel got back within three at 18-15 on consecutive Offerle kills and later made it 20-17, but Midland used three Ava Lloyd kills in the closing stretch and took the set 25-19.
Fifth Set
- After Midland moved ahead 3-2 on consecutive Brooklyn Snyder kills, Bethel took the next four points, including a block by Phillipps and Vines, for a 6-3 lead. Offerle later had a kill from Schutte and a service ace to put Bethel up 8-5.
- Midland scored four straight from there, with kills by Snyder, Ava Lloyd and Mimi Lueders tying the set at 8-8 and another Lloyd kill putting Midland ahead 9-8. Cochran responded with a kill from Schutte to tie it at 9-9.
- Midland pushed ahead 13-10 before Bethel cut it to 13-12 on a Brena Mackling service error and a Lloyd attack error. Avery Couch answered with a kill, Offerle brought Bethel back within 14-13 from Schutte, and Midland finished the set 15-13 on a Bethel attack error.
