Bethel College is very excited abouth the addition of Coach Pearson to the coaching staff.  He brings both coaching and professional and collegiate playing experience to the staff including a National Championship at the University of Miami in 1991.  He was named the Defensive Back of the Year at Miami, named to the Hula Bowl All-Star Team, as well as 1st Team All Big East Conference in 1995.

Malcolm signed with the Denver Broncos in 1995, played in the NFL Europe with the Barcelona Dragons in 1996, and played in the CFL (Canadian Football League) with the Hamilton Tiger Cats (1997-1999).  High School: St.Thomas Aquinas... a three- year starter who, as a senior, was a first-team All-Broward County selection by the Ft.Lauderdale News and Sun Sentinel...was rated as the 16th best prospect out of the state of Florida by The Miami Herald...collected 123 total tackles as a senior to go along with his 7 interceptions (three returned for TD's), 6 sacks, and five fumble recoveries...was also a standout wide receiver in his final season, catching 17 passes for 320 yards and three TD's...was an all-conference, All District and All-State selection, as well as team's captain and MVP...was selected to play in the prestigious Florida-Georgia All-Star game..Pearson was also named Sun-Sential All-Decade Team with the likes of Bennie Blades at freesafety...as a junior, he registered 95 total tackles, 5 interceptions and four sacks from his defensive backfield slot...was a four-year letterman in football and basketball (16-point average), while earning three letters in track...football coach in high school was George Smith. 

Coach Pearson hails from the same High school as former Hurricane All-American wide receiver Michael Irvin, member of the Dallas Cowboys two-time Super Bowl Championship. Other greats from St.Thomas are 2013 PGA Championship Winner Jason Dufner and All-Pro Defensive Tackle for the Cincinnati Bengals Geno Atkins.

Pearson also has several years of coaching experience including four years of coaching as a volunteer assistant at Prairie View University in Houston, TX as a Defensive Backs Coach (2007-2011).  He then moved to Texas College in Tyler TX where he worked as the Defensive Backs Coach & Strength and Conditionoing Coach & Co-Def. Coordinator. (2011-2012). For 2012-2013 season, Coach Pearson coached Corners and Safety at Northeast High School in Florida where his team ranked 3rd best defensively in Broward County.
