Assistant Coach and West Recruiting Coordinator Michael McKelpin enters his first official year with the
Bethel College Thresher Softball program.
Originally from Hawaii, he signed with Hawaii Pacific University out of high school to play baseball.
Michael started in the fastpitch community in 2011 as an Assistant Coach/College Recruiter with the
NW Wildcats 18G Fastpitch Club. He then joined the PNW Force 18G Fastpitch Club also as Assistant
Coach/College Recruiter 2014. During that period, he was highly successful in placing several players
into collegiate softball programs at multiple levels, including a couple of players for our very own Bethel
College Softball program. While with PNW Force 18G Fastpitch club, Michael also volunteered as Bethel
College’s first recruiter in the Pacific Northwest area.
Aside from fastpitch, Michael also served as Vice President of the Big Blue Youth Association in Puyallup,
Washington, an organization that fielded fourteen youth tackle football teams (ages 8 – 13), and a club
baseball team.
Michael’s daughter is a 2020 graduate of Bethel College and a former player on the softball team.
Michael is married with three children, and a grandson. He and his wife (Charmaine) currently reside in
Las Vegas, Nevada.
