Threshers Drop Five Set Thriller to Swedes

LINDSBORG, Kan. - The Bethel Volleyball team continued KCAC play Saturday evening at Bethany College. The Threshers were able to force a fifth set after dropping the first, but came up just short of the Swedes as they took the final set 15-11 and the match 3-2. 
 
The first two sets of the contest finished with identical scores, 25-22, with each team taking a set. Bethany took the first set to take an early 1-0 lead behind 12 kills and 8 Thresher errors. Bethel took set two racking up 12 kills and forcing 5 Swede errors. 
 
Despite being outhit by the Threshers, the Swedes took the lead back in set three. Bethel finished the set with 13 kills to Bethany's 8. What killed the Threshers was their 11 errors in the set compared to the Swedes 3 errors.
 
The Threshers once again outhit the Swedes in set four 15-13 and were able to limit their errors to even the match with a 25-23 set win forcing a fifth set.
 
The fifth set started out as a back and forth affair with both teams trading points. With the score tied 11-11, the Swedes closed out Bethel with four straight points to take the set 15-11 and the match 3-2. 
 
Mia Loganbill led both sides with 17 kills in the contest. Katey Wilhelms had a game-high 25 digs. Meghan Brockmeier totaled 4 aces in the contest.
 
The Threshers will be back on the court on Wednesday, Oct. 20th as they take on the Saint Mary Spires in Leavenworth, Kan. at 7:00 PM.
