NORTH NEWTON, Kan. – The Bethel College Women's Soccer team looked to right the ship against a good Kansas Wesleyan team Wednesday evening inside Thresher Stadium. Unfortunately for the Threshers, they had a few miscues which ultimately resulted in a 4-1 loss to the Coyotes.
Kansas Wesleyan got on the board first in the 23
rd minute after a foul on
Abby Edson in the box gave the Coyotes a penalty kick opportunity.
The Coyotes extended their lead to two in the eight minute of the second half on a direct kick from 25-yards out following another Thresher foul.
Less than 30 seconds later, the Bethel defense let a ball get loose in the box where a Coyote attacker was able to settle it before finding her teammate would beat the Thresher keeper.
Bethel was able to get on the board late in the second half when
Grace Anderson received a good pass from
Arianna Campos, danced around a few Coyotes and ripped a ball past the keeper from 27-yards out.
The Threshers add to the KWU total with an own goal in the 90
th minute when trying to clear out a Coyote cross into the box.
The Threshers will be back in action on Saturday, October 23
rd as they travel to take on the Sterling Warriors with first kick set for 1:00 PM.
