NORTH NEWTON, Kan. - The Bethel Thresher Volleyball team kicked off their final home stand of the season against the Oklahoma Wesleyan Eagles Tuesday night. The Threshers came up short against the Eagles as they dropped the match 3-0.
Bethel jumped out to a 7-5 lead early in the first set. Both teams traded points until the Eagles led 18-17. At this point, OKWU closed out the set on an 8-2 run to take the set 25-19.
In the second set, the Threshers once again controlled the match early on. With the score 8-5 in favor of Bethel, the Eagles rattled off six straight points to take an 11-8 lead. After a Thresher point broke the Eagles run, OKWUÂ scored four straight points to take a 15-8 advantage. After this point in the match, the Eagles had control as they went on to take the second set 25-16.
The Threshers came out hot in set three as they jumped out to a 6-3 lead and forced an Eagle timeout. Later in the set, with Bethel leading 16-13, OKWU strung together four straight points to take a 17-16 lead. Bethel tied the contest on the ensuing point, but Oklahoma Wesleyan would take it right back for the final time as they went on to win the set 25-22 and the match 3-0.Â
Bailee Alexander led both sides with 11 kills in the contest.
Mia Loganbill had the second highest kill total in the match with 9.Â
The Threshers will be back in action on Saturday, October 30th at 7:00 PM as they host the Southwestern Moundbuilders.
