NORTH NEWTON, Kan. - The Bethel Thresher Women's Soccer team hosted Tabor College for a rainy and cold contest inside Thresher Stadium for their final home contest of the season. The Threshers and Bluejays went two extra periods with neither team taking the decision as they ended in a 1-1 tie.
Neither team was able to capitalize on their opportunities in the opening period as we went into the intermission tied nill-nill.
It wasn't until the 70th minute that anyone got on the board when
Claire Hedlund passed a ball into the box that deflected off of the Bluejay keeper to
Arianna Campos who put the ball into the net for the first goal of her collegiate career.
The Bluejays would respond back in the 77th minute on a ball that was crossed into the box to a Tabor attacker who was left alone.
The Threshers had multiple chances to put the game away late in the second half and in both overtimes as they outshot the Bluejays 19-11 with 12 of the Bethel shots coming on goal to Tabor's 4.
The Threshers postseason hopes are still alive as they need a win against Saint Mary on the road Saturday to jump into the top 8 in the KCAC. Kick-off for that contest is set for 5:30 PM in Leavenworth, Kan.
