MCPHERSON, Kan. - The Bethel Men's Soccer team traveled to McPherson College to take on the Bulldogs Wednesday evening. The contest needed two extra periods for a decision, and the Bulldogs came out on top of the Threshers 2-1.
The Bulldogs broke the nill-nill tie in the 38th minute when they scored off of a corner kick. The corner taker kicked the ball to the far post where a McPherson player, flying through the air, kicked the ball through traffic and into the net.
In the 51st minute,
Juan Nicoletti won a 50/50 ball against a McPherson defender, danced through a few more defenders and past the Bulldog keeper before being faced with an open net to tie the contest 1-1.
Both sides went scoreless for the remaining 39 minutes of regulation, as well as the first overtime period. McPherson broke the tie in the 105th minute once again off of a corner kick, this time with a header from the far post to the near side.
The Threshers will be back on the pitch on Saturday, Oct. 9th as they host Southwestern College with kick-off scheduled for 7:30 PM inside Thresher Stadium.
