NORTH NEWTON, Kan. - The Bethel Women's Soccer team hosted the Moundbuilders of Southwestern for a KCAC Conference matchup inside Thresher Stadium. Southwestern came away with the 2-1 victory after 90 minutes of play.
Neither team was able to find the back of the net in the first half as the contest was nill-nill heading into the intermission.
Bethel got on the board first in the 55th minute when
Sydney Brown scored a corner kick. Brown's shot would hit the far post before crossing the line.
With the Threshers leading 1-0, Southwestern would up the pressure. The Moundbuilders would tie the contest back up in the 61st minute with a ball that got crossed into the box and punched past the Thresher keeper.
Southwestern would break the tie this time with a shot that would bounce off of the Bethel keeper and into the net.
Both teams took seven shots in the contest with Southwestern getting five on goal to Bethel's four.
Izzy Saenz and
Sydney Brown both had 1.000 shot on goal percentages for the contest as Saenz went 1 for 1 and Brown 2 for 2.
The Threshers will be back on the pitch on Wednesday, October 13 as they host #9 Oklahoma Wesleyan with kick-off set for 5:00 PM.
