YORK, Neb. - The Bethel College Women's Basketball team continued their three game road trip looking to bounce back from a tough loss at Friends against the York Panthers. Despite trailing for most of the contest, the Threshers came out victorious against the Panthers 69-64.
Saturday's contest started slow for Bethel as they didn't get their first basket from the floor until the halfway mark in the opening quarter. After spotting York with a 9-1 lead, the Threshers began clawing their way back into the contest.
Melinda Vargas played big minutes for the Threshers in the first quarter as she put up 7 of Bethel's 13 points in the quarter. The Threshers were able to tie the contest early in the second quarter, but were never able to take the lead as the Panthers took a 35-29 lead into the intermission.
What Coach
Derrick Pringle Jr. said to his team at halftime worked as they came out of the break ready to play. The Threshers outscored the Panthers by five points in the quarter to head to the final period knotted up at 48 all.
Alex Bearup led the way in the third quarter scoring 9 of her team-high 19 points, including two big time threes during an 11-2 run for Bethel to close out the quarter. Bethel once again outscored York by five points in a quarter as they put up 21 points in the final frame, their highest point total in the contest.Both

Kendall Michalski finished the final quarter with 8 points a piece.
