HASTINGS, Neb. - The Bethel Women's Basketball team hit the road to take on the Hastings Broncos. Despite trialing by just 2 points at halftime, the Threshers only scored six points in the final quarter as they fell to the Broncos 68-42.
Six Threshers scored in the opening quarter, led by junior transfer
Troi Lucas with 5 points. Bethel trailed by one after the first quarter, 17-16 despite shooting 38 percent from the floor compared to the Broncos 46 percent. The difference for the Threshers came from beyond the three point arc and the free throw line.
In the second quarter, neither team was able to get much going offensively as just 17 total points were scored, nine by Hastings and eight by Bethel.
After trailing 26-24 at halftime, Bethel was outscored in the third period eleven, 23-12.
The Threshers couldn't slow down the Broncos in the fourth quarter as they shot over 50 percent from the floor, outscoring Bethel 19-6.
Hastings put up 30 bench points compared to Bethel's 8 bench points. The Threshers shot 24.6 percent from the floor, 21 percent from three point range, and 62.5 percent from the charity stripe. The Broncos shot 42.6 percent from the floor, 23.5 percent from behind the three point arc, and 80 percent from the free throw line.
Kendall Michalski led the Threshers with 11 points in the loss.
Troi Lucas had 8 points and 5 rebounds while
Zayda Perez had 7 points and 8 rebounds.
The Threshers move to 2-2 on the season. Their next game comes against Mid America Christian on Friday, November 12th in Oklahoma City as part of the Mid America Christian Classic. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 PM.
