LEAVENWORTH, Kan. - The Bethel College Volleyball team took on the Saint Mary Spires in the opening round of the KCAC Postseason Tournament Tuesday Evening. The Threshers had their season come to an end as they fell to the Spires 3-0.
The Threshers came out slow in the first set as the Spires jumped out to a 6-1 lead early to force head coach,
Adriana Leake, to use her first timeout. The Threshers were unable to slow down the Spires following the timeout as they pushed their lead to 15-4 forcing Bethel to use their second timeout. Saint Mary kept the distance between them and the Threshers as they took the opening set 25-11.Â
In the second set, the Threshers came out ready to play. With the score tied 5-5, Saint Mary started to take control of the contest.The Spires scored four of the next five points to take a 9-6 lead forcing a Bethel timeout. The Threshers got outscored in the next run of plays 13-9 as Saint Mary was able to extend their lead to 22-15, when Bethel took their final timeout of the set. The Spires were able to hold the Threshers off late as they took the second set 25-18.Â
Bethel was able to keep the score close early in the third set. It wasn't until the Threshers were trailing 8-6 that the Spires started to pull away. Saint Mary scored the final five points of the set as they took down the Threshers 25-16 to win the match 3-0.

Julie Wilhite led both sides with 4 blocks in the contest.
J'Lynne Stolsworth led the Threshers with 11 digs in the loss.
