NORTH NEWTON, Kan. - The Bethel College Men's Basketball team returned to Thresher Gym Thursday night for a top 25 matchup as they hosted #9 Oklahoma Wesleyan. Bethel was outscored by Oklahoma Wesleyan by a point in each half in the 75-73 loss that came on a last second put back.
Hot shooting from beyond the arc kept the Threshers in the ball game in the first half as seemed to not miss. The Threshers shot 57% from three point range in the opening frame led by
Jordan Neely's scorching hand going 4 for 5. OKWU would shoot 50% in the half on their way to taking a 39-38 lead into the intermission.
Jaylon Scott recorded his 7th double-double of the season in the first half pulling in 10 rebounds and dishing 10 assists.
Neither team showed much signs of slowing down in the second half as the Threshers continued to shoot over 50% from three point range and the Eagles hovered right around the 50% from the floor mark. Following a basket by
Clifford Byrd II that tied the contest 73-73, the Eagles came down and got a put back to go with 0.1 seconds left on the clock to take the 75-73 lead.
