NORTH NEWTON, Kan. - The Bethel College Men's Basketball team played host to the Southwestern College Moundbuilders for KCAC play inside Thresher Gym. Bethel was able to pull out the last second win when
Jaylon Scott stole a Southwestern pass with three seconds left after putting the Threshers up 76-75 just seconds prior.
The Threshers started the contest slow, spotting the Moundbuilders an early 6-0 lead. Bethel was able to slowly cut into the Southwestern lead that was built up to nine points just a few possessions later. Heading into the lockerroom, the Threshers trailed by a single point 36-35 and had made just three of their eleven attempts from three point range.
Jaylon Scott led all scorers in the first half with 14 points while shooting 60% from the field.
Both
Clifford Byrd II and Scott took their turns getting big buckets when the Threshers needed them down the stretch. Byrd II shot 75% from the floor in the second half scoring 12 points, including six straight to take the lead for the Threshers with under four minutes left. While Scott shot 66% from the field scoring 14 points in the closing half, including the final five for Bethel.
