NORTH NEWTON, Kan. - The Bethel College Volleyball team hosted a triangular Saturday afternoon inside Thresher Gym. The Threshers would fall to the Falcons in five sets before taking down the Swedes in three straight sets.Inbetween the two varsity games, Bethel and Bethany JV would play.
In the first match of the day, Bethel would jump out to a 2-0 lead on Friends.The Falcons would battle back to take the next two sets to force a fifth and decisive set in the opening match of the day. The Threshers would jump out to a quit 3-0 lead to force a Falcon timeout. Coming out of the timeout, Friends would score three straight of their own to tie things up. Bethel would call a timeout of their own when trailing 7-5. Friends would close the set out on an 8-6 run to take the match 3-2.Â
The Bethel Jv team would defeat Bethany in the second match of the triangular.Â
Both teams would battle back and forth throughout the whole first set of the final contest of the day. The Swedes would hold the largest lead in the opening set of four points. Bethel would fight back to score four of the final five points of the set taking it 28-26. Bethany would jump out to another early lead in the second set, but the Threshers would once battle back to take the final four out of five points and the set. Leading 2-0, Bethel would dominate the third set on their way to sweeping Bethany.
The Thresher Volleyball Team will be back in action on Friday Sept. 10th and 11th as they take part in a tournament hosted by Peru State.
