#10 Threshers Come Up Short Against #16 Coyotes

NORTH NEWTON, Kan. - The #10 Bethel Threshers played host to the #16 Kansas Wesleyan Coyotes on Saturday evening. It would be a contest that the Threshers would lead until 9:29 left in the 4th quarter. Kansas Wesleyan would take their first lead with 2 minutes left and hold off the Threshers to take a 31-24 victory.
 
Chantz Scurry would take the Threshers second play of the game to the house from 78 yards out to put Bethel up 7-0. The Coyotes would tie the contest at 7 just 3 minutes later on a 67-yard pass. Trey Palmer would intercept the KWU pass and take it to the house to put the Threshers back on top. 
 
The Coyotes would kick a field goal to start the scoring in the second quarter making the score 14-10 in favor of the Threshers. Two plays into the ensuing Bethel drive, Camryn Harrison would break off a 72-yard touchdown run to put the Threshers up 21-10. KWU would respond just before the half with a 50-yard touchdown pass to make 21-17 heading into the intermission.
 
The only points scored for either team in the third quarter would come from the right foot of Logan DeMond as he would connect on a 39-yard field goal to put the Threshers up 24-17. 
 
Both scoring drives in the fourth quarter would come with the Coyotes on offense as they would take their first lead of the contest with 2:06 left on the clock. Bethel would march down the field, but would ultimately come up short as the Coyotes would take the game 31-27.
 
The Threshers would run for 357 yards, led by Chantz Scurry with 147 yards and a touchdown. Camryn Harrison would add in 89 yards and a touchdown. Josh Seabolt would lead the Thresher defense with 13 tackles, including 2 sacks. Grant Godsey would add in 10 tackles in the loss.
