Football Rolls to a 40-17 Victory Over Ottawa

OTTAWA, Kan. - The Bethel Football team was back in action Saturday afternoon looking to get back into the win column. That is exactly what they would do as they would defeat the Braves 40-17.

DJ Ciers would take over at quarterback in the second quarter and would lead the Thresher offense as he would go 3 for 5 for 94 yards with two touchdown passes. Chantz Scurry would lead the ground attack for Bethel as he would pick up 81 yards and a touchdown on five carries.

Eleven Threshers would record a rush in the contest as the team would finish just shy of their average with 371 yards gained on the ground. Between Ciers and Landon Barnes, Bethel would throw for over 100 yards for the second time this season.

The Thresher defense would hold tough on the ground one again as they would hold the Braves to just 79 total rushing yards. Phillip Williams would lead the Bethel defense with 11 tackles and two pass breakups. Garret Slater would add in eight tackles, while Josh Seabolt would contribute seven tackles, two sacks, and a forced fumble.

Bethel would have five different players score a touchdown for the second time this season, the other time coming during a 59-3 victory over Friends.

The #18 ranked Threshers will be back at Thresher Stadium next Saturday, October 2nd for a 6:00 PM kick-off against the Bethany Swedes during Fall Fest.
