KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Bethel Men's Soccer team took on the Avila Eagles in the non-traditional doubleheader that had the men playing first. The Threshers would jump out to an early lead and never look back on their way to a 3-0 victory over the Eagles.
 
Juan Nicoletti would get the scoring started in the 6th minute assisted by Tomas White. White, in the defensive third, would pass a 50/50 ball over the heads of everyone into the Avila box where Nicoletti would win the battle over the Eagle goalkeeper and a defender and would escort the ball into the goal without struggles.
 
In his second goal of the afternoon, Nicoletti would win a one-on-one battle with an Eagle midfielder and step into a shot from just beyond 35 yards out that would zip past the Avila keeper to put the Threshers up 2-0 in the 26th minute. 
 
For the third goal of the half, Jose Rojas, in the far corner, would cross a ball into the box looking for Nicoletti. However, the Eagles defense would get to the ball before Nicoletti and put it into the back of their own net to give Bethel the 3-0 first-half lead.
 
The Threshers would coast to victory in the second half as they would hold on for a 3-0 lead. Colton Rothwell and the Thresher defense would record their second straight clean sheet.
 
Bethel will be back in action on Saturday, September 25th as they return home to host Bethany College at 7:30 PM.
