Threshers roll past Braves for a 71-54 victory

NORTH NEWTON, Kan. - The Bethel College Women's Basketball team hosted the Ottawa Braves Saturday afternoon in Thresher Gym. Down two starters, the Threshers were able to handedly beat the Braves 71-54.

Both teams played a tight first quarter with the Threshers coming out on top 17-15. Bethel took control of the contest in the second quarter as they quickly built their lead up to eight points. BC was able to build their lead up to as much as sixteen in the opening half and took an 11 point lead into the intermission.

The Threshers put their foot on the gas in the third quarter outscoring the Braves by 10 points to take a 59-38 lead into the final ten minutes of play. Bethel had it's lowest scoring quarter of the game in the fourth, but the Threshers had built their lead high enough to hold on for a 17 point victory.

The Threshers had two players record double-doubles in the win. Jaycee Freshour finished with a career high 16 points and 11 rebounds. Alex Bearup finished with 11 points and 11 rebounds.
