LEAVENWORTH, Kan. - The Bethel College Women's Basketball team resumed KCAC Conference play Wednesday afternoon against the Spires of Saint Mary. The Spires led for most of the contest on their way to taking the 68-49 victory.
Bethel was able to take a four point lead half way through the opening period, but Saint Mary closed out the quarter on an 8-2 run taking a five point advantage into the second. The Threshers were held to just seven points to close out the half as the Spires led 37-23 at the intermission.
The Threshers stepped up their defense after the break as they were able to hold the Spires to seven points in the quarter. Unfortunately for Bethel, they were only able to cut a small chunk out of the USM lead scoring 11 points of their own. Bethel cut the Saint Mary lead to less than ten points in the fourth quarter, but the Spires answered every run the Threshers tried to make.
