NORTH NEWTON, Kan. - The Bethel College Women's Soccer team took on the McPherson College Bulldogs as they continued KCAC Play. The Threshers came into the contest looking to pick up a win over the team right above them in the KCAC standings. After falling behind 2-0 early in the contests, Bethel scored four unanswered goals to take a 4-2 victory.
The Bulldogs opened up the scoring in the fifth minute goal from 15-yards out.
McPherson added to their lead five minutes later off of a corner kick that ended with a header to take a 2-0 advantage.
Two minutes after the Bulldogs extended their lead,
Claire Hedlund got BC on the board when she took a shot from the far side of the box and beat the keeper to the top near corner.
Grace Anderson evened up the contest in the 20th minute when she received a ball from
Sydney Brown, shook off a defender and beat the charging keeper.
Hedlund got her second goal of the contest in the 40th minute when she was on the receiving end of a through ball from
Katy Ponce. Claire was able to get through a few Bulldog defenders before blowing the ball by the keeper giving Bethel the 3-2 in what started out as a bismal half for the hosts.
In the 77th minute, Hedlund was able to complete her second hat-trick of the season. Hedlund battled with a Bulldog defender all the way into the box to the near post, after getting past the defender she was able to squeeze one by the defender near side to give BC the 4-2 advantage.
Claire Hedlund finished with 12 shots, 10 on goal. Bethel as a team out-shot McPherson 24(17) to 9(5).
The Threshers will be back in action on Wednesday, October 5th as they travel south to take on Southwestern College in Winfield with kickoff slated for 5:30 PM.
