SALINA, Kan. - The Bethel College Volleyball team took on the Kansas Wesleyan Coyotes Tuesday evening in a battle of KCAC unbeatens. The Coyotes got the best of the Threshers in the match winning all three sets.
Bethel kept up with Kansas Wesleyan in the early parts of the opening set until KWU turned it on. With the Threshers leading 5-3, the Coyotes put together a 10-0 run to take control. The Threshers tried to make a run late in the set, but it ended up being too little too late as the Coyotes took the set 25-16.
Kylah Carter turned in a team high 4 kills in the opening set.
Kaitlyn Shima had 7 digs in the opening set.
Despite giving up the first three points of the set, Bethel was able to compete better in the second set. With the contest tied 14-14, the Coyotes outscored the Threshers 11-1 to take the set 25-15. Carter once again turned in 4 kills in the set.
Katey Wilhelm recorded 6 digs in the set.
The third set started like the third, with each team trading points until a tie. At the point of the tie, KWU took control of the match. The Threshers were outscored by the Coyotes 18-8 as they dropped the third set 25-15 and the match 3-1.
Kylah Carter led the Threshers offensively finishing with 10 kills.
Kaitlyn Shima turned in her second double-double in a row with 14 assists and 10 digs in the loss.
Katey Wilhelm led the Thresher defense with 15 digs.
Bethel will be back in action on Saturday, Oct. 8th as they travel to Hillsboro to take on the Tabor Bluejays at 6:00 PM.
