WICHITA, Kan. - The Bethel College Women's Basketball team took on the Friends Falcons for game one of their three game road trip to open up KCAC Conference play. After trailing by six at the half, 33-27, the Threshers went cold from the field in the third quarter allowing the Falcons to pull away for the 71-45 victory.
After the opening ten minutes, the Threshers trailed by just three points, 13-10, despite shooting just 25% from the floor. The difference in the game was Bethel was able knock down a shot from long range while Friends was not. Bethel won the turnover and rebounding battles in the first quarter.Â
The second quarter saw Bethel get outscored by three points once more, this time both teams were able to put the ball in the bucket more. The Threshers shot just a tick over 25% in the quarter, but were able to get to the free throw line ten times. They knocked down eight of those ten chances, while the Falcons were five for five.Â
Bethel started out the third quarter by outscoring Friends 9-4 to trail by just one point, 27-36 with 2:41 remaining. Following the two
Jasmine Peete free throws that brought BC within one, the Falcons went on a 17-0 run to close out the quarter taking a 54-36 lead. The Threshers went ice cold in the quarter shooting just 17.6% from the floor and 16.7% from three point range.Â
The cold shooting night for Bethel continued in the fourth as they made just three of their 14 attempts including one of five from downtown. The Falcons shot nearly 50% from the floor as they led by more than 20 points for almost the entirety of the final ten minutes of play.Â
