Threshers match school record season win total behind 30 points from Harper Jonas

NORTH NEWTON, Kan. - The no. 24 ranked Bethel College Men's Basketball team hosted the Saint Mary Spires inside Thresher Gym on Wednesday afternoon as they looked to match the school record 22 wins set by the 1955-56 Threshers. Bethel trailed for just one minute in early in the first half before pulling away in the second half for the 101-84 victory behind another big game from Harper Jonas

Bryant Mocaby was ready to fire out of the gates knocking down two three point baskets in the opening 90 seconds to get the ball rolling for the Threshers. Bethel built up an 8 point lead just four minutes into the contest, but the Spires would respond with a run of their own to take the lead 17-16. On Bethel ensuing possession they were able to regain the lead and begin pulling away from Saint Mary. The Threshers closed out the half on a 9-0 run taking a 49-33 lead into the intermission.

The second half was nearly even with the Threshers outscoring the Spires by just one point, 52-51. Bethel was able to surpass the century mark for the second time this season and second time in the last three contests. The Threshers as a team shot over 51% from the floor in the second half while leading scorer Harper Jonas went 3 of 5 from three and 4 of 6 from the floor for 17 points in the closing 20 minutes.
