ALLEN, Texas - The Bethel College Softball team opened up their 2022 campaign in Texas with four contests, an exhibition and three regular season games. The Threshers came out on the wrong side of the scoreboard in all contests.
After falling in their exhibition with NCAA Division II Texas Permian Basin, Bethel drop a 7-6 ball game with Southwestern Assemblies of God University after leading 6-2 heading into the seventh inning.
Dakota Piovesean went 2 for 3 with 2 doubles and an RBI.
Taylor Sanfillippo went 2 for 4 with a homerun and 2 RBI.Â
Bethel was set to play Huston-Tilloston for their final contest of day one, but the Rams backed out due to injuries earlier in the day.
In game one of day two, the Threshers couldn't complete the comeback after giving up a 5 run second inning.
Marissa Harrison went 3 for 3 with a double and two runs scored in the loss.Â
Bethel's final contest of the tournament came against Oklahoma Panhandle State. After taking a 3-0 lead early in the game, the Threshers were unable to avoid the big inning as they gave up an 11 run fifth inning to fall 12-4 after 5 innings. Harrison picked up where she left off at the plate in this contest going 2 for 3 with another double, 2 RBI and a run scored.Â
The Threshers will be back in action on Tuesday, Feb. 15th as they travel to Oklahoma for a doubleheader with the Langston Lions with first pitch set for 1:00 PM.
