HESSTON, Kan. - Bethel College Softball took on Central Christian in a single seven inning game at Hesston College before the Threshers junior varsity sqaud took on the Hesston Larks. The Threshers were able to hold off the Tigers late run to take a 6-5 win.
The Threshers did all of their damage in the first three innings. Bethel pushed two runs across in the first on an RBI triple from
Taylor Sanfillippo and a sacrifice fly from
Catherine Carter.Â
BC struck again with two outs in the bottom half of the second inning when
Dakota Piovesan crushed a ball over the left field fence for three runs.
With the Threshers leading 5-0,
Peyton Uznanski added to the Bethel lead for what would be the final time in the contest when she smacked a solo shot to left field.
After not allowing a run in the first three innings, the Bethel defense gave up a run in three of the last four. The Tigers pushed two runs across in the fourth, one in the fifth and two in the seventh. The Threshers were able to hold on stranding two Tigers on the base path in the seventh to take the 6-5 victory.Â
Cynae Wiley pitched just past the threshold for collecting the win as she went 4.1 innings giving up 3 runs on 3 hits while walking 3 and striking out 5 Tigers.
Reagan Robinson came in to get the Threshers out of the seventh inning jam to collect one out and the save.
The Threshers are scheduled to take on the Hastings College Broncos at Wedel Field this Saturday, February 26th, with first pitch set for 1:00 PM weather pending.
