NORTH NEWTON, Kan. - The Bethel College Softball team hosted their first two home contests of the season on Sunday afternoon at Allen Wedel Field. After dropping game one to Broncos 6-0, The Thresher bats came alive in the second game to earn the split with a 6-9 victory.
Game 1
Game one saw the Threshers fall behind early as the Broncos took a 1-0 lead after the second inning. Hastings would score in each of the next two innings to take a 4-0 lead after the fourth inning. In the top of the 7th, the Broncos pushed across their final two runs to take a 6-0 victory. Bethel was held to just 4 hits in the contest while stranding five runners.

Game 2
The Threshers used the break between contests to wake up their bats as they were able to strike first. In the bottom of the opening frame
Taylor Sanfillippo reached on an error that score Harrison giving Bethel the 1-0 advantage early. In the bottom of the second inning, Nava and Harrison hit back-to-back one out doubles to add another run to the board. Trailing 2-0, the Broncos were able to push three runs across in the fourth inning to take their first lead of the contest before extending their lead in the fifth to 4-2. The Threshers answered back in the bottom of the fifth inning by scoring three runs of their own to take the 6-4 advantage.
Brianna Reeves came up in the sixth inning with two on and two out and drove a ball over the fence to put Bethel up 9-5 heading into the final frame. Hastings was able to push two runs across in the inning, but the Threshers were able to hold on for the 9-6 victory.

The Threshers will be back in action on Tuesday, March 1 at 1:00 PM as they host Bacone College at Allen Wedel Field.
