NORTH NEWTON, Kan. - The Bethel College Softball hosted Bacone College in a non-conference midweek doubleheader at Allen Wedel Field. After dropping game one 4-2, the Thresher defense stepped up to hold the Warriors to just two hits in the 8-0 five inning win.
GAME 1
Bethel struck first in the opening game of the afternoon when
Brianna Reeves smacked a two run double to left center scoring
Taylor Sanfillippo and
Dakota Piovesan. The Warriors got in the board in the third inning, the inning in which all three of the Threshers errors came. In that inning Bacone scored all four of their runs on 1 hit, 3 errors stranding the bases loaded. Bethel left stranded four total runners on base over the final four frames of the contest.

GAME 2
The Threshers once again had a strong first inning putting up 3 runs on a Sanfillippo RBI ground out followed up by a
Bailea Crist two RBI single. Unlike the first game of the day, Bethel kept its foot on the gas in the second inning adding two more runs on another two-run Reeves double. Freshman pitcher
Reagan Robinson didn't allow a baserunner until a leadoff single in the fourth inning, one of the Warriors two hits in the contest. Bethel finished the contest in the sixth inning scoring two runs on a
Catherine Carter and another when Crist hit a single into right field to earn the five inning run rule.

The Threshers will be back in action this weekend in Oklahoma City at the Red Dirt Classic hosted by Langston at the USA Softball Hall of Fame Stadium. Their first game of the contest comes against the Hastings Broncos on Friday, March 4th at 11:30 am before an exhibition match with Grambling State at 4:30 pm on the championship field.
