WINFIELD, Kan. - The Bethel College Men's Basketball team traveled to Southwestern College for their first of two road contests this week. After trailing by 22 points in the contest, the Threshers rallied back to cut the Moundbuilder lead to two late in the second half but were unable to complete the comeback as they fell 66-61 on the road.
The first half was all Southwestern as they jumped out to an early 19-2 lead. The Threshers played very uncharacteristically in the first half, they struggled defensively and didn't make a shot from behind the arc. After the Moundbuilders ballooned their lead to as much as 22 points in the opening half, the Threshers started to claw their way back into the contest to trail by just 15 at the break, 39-24.
In the second half, the Threshers were once again unable to slow down the Moundbuilder attack as SC extended their lead back to 22 points. With 12 minutes left in the contest, Bethel started playing their style of basketball, they upped their defense and started making key shots. The Threshers were able to get a few keys stops, but also gave up some very untimely offensive rebounds that let the Moundbuilders keep them at arms length.
