NORTH NEWTON, Kan. - The Bethel College Tennis teams took a road trip on Wednesday to take on two schools in Nebraska. The Threshers opened up competition against the Concordia Bulldogs before driving to take on the Doane Tigers later in the day. After defeating the Bulldogs 6-1, Bethel taking down the Tigers 4-3.
Bethel started the day on the right foot as they swept the Bulldogs in doubles to take the point.
Daniela Herrera, playing #1 singles, took care of her opponent 6-3, 6-1. At #2 singles,
Halle Krehbiel won a third set super to give the Threshers their third point, 2-6, 6-4, 1-0.
Fatima Nemi finished her match winning 6-0, 6-3.
Nalea Payton handled her opponent in the #4 singles position with a 6-1, 6-2 victory. After losing the #5 singles match,
Jenna Mahoney picked up a 6-2, 6-3 victory in the #6 singles position to give the Threshers 6-1 victory.
Just like their first match of the day, Bethel swept Doane in doubles including a 7-6(7-2) victory at #1 doubles. The Threshers picked up wins in #1, #3 and #6 singles to secure the 4-3 victory over the Tigers. Herrera won at #1 singles 7-5, 6-2. At #3 singles, Nemi picked up an impressive 6-1, 6-1 victory. Mahoney won the final match for the Threshers with a 6-0, 6-3 victory.
Bethel will be back in action on Thursday, March 24th at 3:00 PM as they travel to Winfield to take on Southwestern College to open KCAC play.
