WINFIELD, Kan. - The Bethel College Women's Tennis team took on the Southwestern College Mounbuilders on Thursday afternoon as both teams opened up KCAC Conference play. After dropping the doubles point, the Threshers were unable to pick up any singles wins as they fell 7-0 to the Moundbuilders.
Bethel dropped two of the three doubles matches to give Southwestern the 1-0 advantage heading into singles play.
Daniela Herrera and
Fatima Nemi picked up the lone doubles win for the Threshers at #1 with a 6-3 victory. Herrera fell in the three sets in #1 singles 6-3, 4-6, 6-3. The rest of the matches all ended in two sets as the Threshers had to move up the rest of their lineup two spots. Nemi fell by a pair of 6-1 defeats.
Julia Sherman dropped her contest 6-0, 6-4.
Jenna Mahoney fell 6-1, 6-2 to her opponent.
Karik Elliott and
Kiara Ashurst, playing in their first varsity matches of the season, dropped 6-0, 6-1 contests.
The Threshers will be back on the court on Saturday, March 26th as they host the Bethany Swedes with first serve slated for noon at the Ward Tennis Center.Â
