NORTH NEWTON, Kan. - The Bethel College Women's Tennis team hosted Bethany College on Saturday at the Ward Tennis Center with Bethel College Tennis Legend Marty Ward acting as the Interim Coach with Head Coach
Gabe Johnson needing to be away for personal reasons. Coach Ward was able to lead the Threshers to a 5-2 victory and their first KCAC Conference win of the season.
The Threshers were able to win two of the three doubles matches to earn the 1-0 advantage as they went into singles play.
Daniela Herrera and
Fatima Nemi picked up the 6-3 victory at #1 doubles and
Julia Sherman and
Kiara Ashurst won at #3 doubles 6-4.
Both Herrera and Nemi were able to effeciently defeat their opponents at the #1 & #2 singles spots. Herrera won 6-1, 6-2 while Nemi won 6-1, 6-0. Sherman fell at #3 singles to her Swede opponent 6-3, 6-4.
Jenna Mahoney was able to get the Thresher back in the win column with a pair of 6-2 set victories.
Karik Elliott dropped her match in two sets, 6-4 and 6-0 before Ashurst secured the final win for Bethel. Ashurst took down her opponent 6-1, 6-0.
The Threshers will be back in action on Wednesday, March 30th as they travel to Hillsboro to take on the Tabor Bluejays in KCAC play.
