NORTH NEWTON, Kan. - The Bethel College Softball team hosted the Avila Eagles in a postponed game from earlier in the week. The Threshers fell in game one 7-4 and game two 7-3.
GAME 1, L 7-4
The Eagles got the scoring started in game one in the third inning with two two-out two-run homeruns all of which were unearned following a Thresher error. Trailing 4-0, Bethel got a run back in the bottom of the inning when
Taylor Sanfillippo hit an RBI single to center field. Avila added to their lead the following inning pushing the score to 6-1. In the top of the sixth inning, the Eagles added one more run to take a 7-1 advantage. Bethel made an attempt at a comeback in the sixth inning when they pushed two runs across to cut the lead to 7-3. Bethel made one more attempt at evening the score but could only push across one run as they dropped the opening contest 7-4.

GAME 2, L 7-3
The Eagles once again got the scoring started for the contest, this time in the second inning with a solo shot to take an early advantage. Uznanski answered back in the bottom half of the inning with a solo homerun of her own. Avila got back on top in the ensuing inning when they pushed two runs across to take a 3-1 lead. The Eagles were able to extend their lead with another run in the fourth making the score 4-1. Bethel cut the lead down to two in the sixth inning when
Brianna Reeves came up with an RBI single to score
Morgan Marsh. Avila once again answered back as they rallied for three runs in the top of the seventh to push their lead to 7-2. The Thresher tried to put together a big inning but were only able to push across a single run as

Dakota Piovesan with an RBI single as the Threshers dropped the rubber match 7-3.

The Threshers will be back on the diamond on Saturday, April 16th as they travel north up I-135 to take on the Kansas Wesleyan Coyotes with first pitch scheduled for 1:00 PM.
