Box Score NORTH NEWTON, Kan. - The Bethel College Thresher Men's Tennis team hosted the Friends Falcons for their final regular season match on Monday morning. The Threshers took all three doubles matches before winning five of the six singles contests. Following their match, Head Coach
Gabe Johnson honored the programs two seniors that will be leaving the team following the conclusion of this season,
Nolan Schrader and
Jordan Singh.
At #1 doubles,
Michael Cech and
Milan Bucek won 6-4 to start the match out on the right foot for the Threshers. Seniors
Jordan Singh and
Nolan Schrader picked up the 6-3 win at #2 doubles. While
Tomas Quercia and
Joaquin Pluis secured the doubles point for Bethel finishing their match second as they won 6-2.
Cech, in the #1 singles position, won a three set thriller after dropping the first set. He fell behind with a 6-4 first set loss before bouncing back to take set two 6-2 and set three 7-5. Bucek won his match with a pair of 6-3 set victories. Schrader fell in his final regular season match as a Thresher 6-2, 7-5. Quercia, playing #4 singles, won by default as his opponent withdrew trailing 2-1. Pluis won his first match very handidly 6-0 before taking the second in a 7-6(4) tiebreaker. Singh dominated at #6 singles as he took a 6-2, 6-1 victory as the Threshers took the match 6-1.
The Thresher Men will be back in action for the first round of the KCAC Tournament as they travel to Ottawa to take on the Braves on Thursday afternoon with first serve scheduled for 3:00 PM.
