HILLSBORO, Kan. - The Bethel College Women's Tennis team took on the Tabor College Bluejays in a rescheduled match from a week ago. The Threshers and Bluejays came down to the wire with Tabor coming out on top 4-3.
The Threshers were able to take the doubles point after
Daniela Herrera and
Fatima Nemi won at #1 doubles 6-4 and the pairing of
Jenna Mahoney and
Karik Elliott won at #3 doubles 6-3. The Bluejays took the #2 doubles match 6-1.
In the #1 spot, Herrera played in her second straight three set match, this time she came out on top of her opponent 3-6, 6-1, 6-4. The Threshers dropped the next three singles matches with
Halle Krehbiel and Nemi both falling 6-3, 6-0 and
Nalea Payton losing her match in three sets 6-3, 3-6, 7-5. Mahoney got Bethel back on track picking up the win at #5 singles 6-3, 6-1 to tie the match 3-3. It all came down to the final matchup where
Julia Sherman dropped the first set 7-6(3) before winning the second set 6-2 and eventually dropping the third set 6-3.
The Threshers will be back on the court on Thursday, April 7th as they travel to McPherson to continue KCAC play with first serve scheduled for 10:00 AM.
