LANGSTON, Okla. - The Bethel College Volleyball team took on the Langston Lions in a non-conference match up Tuesday evening. The Threshers were unable to complete the three game sweep, but pulled out the four set victory.
Bethel opened the first set scoring eight straight points assisted by four errors by the Lions. After jumping out to the large lead early, the Threshers never looked back as they cruised to the 25-9 first set victory.
Set two saw the Threshers jump out to another significant lead early in the match. Leading 9-4, Bethel committed an error before rattling off six straight points to take a 15-5 lead. They were once again able to cruise down the home stretch as they pulled out the 25-13 set two victory.
With the Threshers looking to close out the match, the Lions cleaned up their play in the third set not committing as many errors in the set. With the score 15-13 in favor of the host, Bethel made a run at the victory scoring five straight points as the Lions started to struggle.Langston was able to respond and make a run of their own to take the lead back and hold on for the victory as the two teams traded points down the stretch.
In the fourth set, BC led the entire time after scoring the first two points of the set. The Threshers were able to hold the Lions at an arms length the whole set as they took the 25-21 fourth set victory.
The Threshers were led in kills by
Mia Loganbill with 15 kills.
Mia Roman turned in 21 assists in the win, while
Maddie Chupp led the defense with 10 digs in the win.
Bethel will be back in action on Friday, Sept. 2nd at 6:00 PM as they host Randall inside Thresher Gym.
