Box Score NORTH NEWTON, Kan. - The Bethel College Men's Tennis team opened their 2022-23 season by hosting Concordia University at the Ward Tennis Center without three of their top six players. The Threshers dropped the doubles point before winning the top three singles positions and dropping the bottom three as they fell to the Bulldogs 4-3.
The lone Thresher duo to pick up a win in doubles was the pair of
Milan Bucek and
Rodrigo Sanchez. They picked up a 6-4 victory at #1 singles.Â
Bucek, playing in the #1 singles spot, picked up the two set victory 6-3, 6-2. Sanchez played #2 singles where he picked up a second set tiebreaker win to take the match 6-2, 7-6 (7-5).
Tomas Quercia picked up the third and final victory for BC at #3 singles with a 6-4, 6-0 match win.
Damian Rosas, playing #4 singles, dropped the first set 6-0, won the second set in a tiebreaker 7-6 (7-2) and dropped a tightly contest third set 11-9.
James Menard fell to his opponent in two straight sets 6-4, 6-0. Rounding out the Thresher lineup was
Jordan Twenter who would drop his first set via tiebreaker 7-6(7-2) and his second 6-0.
The Threshers will be back in action on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 23rd and 24th as they participate in the KCAC Individual Championships hosted by Southwestern College in Winfield, Kan.
