NORTH NEWTON, Kan. - The Bethel College Men's Soccer team opened up KCAC Conference play Saturday night at home against the Avila Eagles. The Threshers jumped out to a 2-0 lead just four minutes into the contest and scored two late goals as they open conference play with a victory.
Bethel got the scoring started just under three minutes into the match when
Adalsteinn Kristinsson found the back of the net, assisted by
Vicente Trejo.
Just over a minute later the Threshers were able to add to their lead when
Gabriel Villegas beat the keeper for his fourth goal of the season, assisted by
Juan Demichelis.
Neither team would score for over 79 minutes of game play. This time Kristinsson was doing the passing as he assisted on
Sebastian Formento's 84th minute goal putting Bethel up 3-0 late in the contest.
To put the icing on the cake,
Louis Etienne scored a 89th minute goal giving the Threshers the 4-0 victory to open conference play.
Bethel will be back on the pitch on Wednesday, Sept. 21st as they travel to Lindsborg to take on the Bethany Swedes with kickoff slated for 7:00 PM.
