NORTH NEWTON, Kan. - The Bethel College Men's Soccer team hosted the Oklahoma City Stars in a non-conference matchup inside Thresher Stadium. Despite striking first, the Threshers gave up two first half goals and were unable to answer as they fell 2-1.
Freshman forward
Gabriel Villegas took advantage of the opportunity given to him early on in the match. Villegas received a ball from teammate
Lucas Pardo and dribbled through the Stars defense before ripping a ball across the goal to the top left corner beating the keeper in the 12th minute.
Oklahoma City answered back just over four minutes later to tie the contest when John Woodhead finished off a rebound to tie the contest 1-1.
Woodhead got back on the stat sheet in the 40th minute with his second goal of the evening and the eventual game winner.
Bethel out-shot Oklahoma City 15(4) - 11(4).
The Threshers will be back on the pitch on Saturday, Sept. 10th as they take to Arkansas for a matchup with Ecclesia College at 7:30 PM before they begin KCAC play Sept. 17.
