NORTH NEWTON, Kan. - After conceding the first goal, the Bethel College women's soccer team scored three straight goals as they came out victorious over Sterling College.
The Warriors broke the nill-nill tie with a break away opportunity in the 31st minute, their first scoring chance of the contest.
The Threshers answered back ten minutes later when
Ashley SaJous scored after the Warrior keeper deflected a shot from Nevaeh Gonzalez.Â
Less than three minutes later, SaJous was fouled in the box resulting in a penalty kick opportunity for Bethel.
Taylor Dashney took the chance, converting and giving the Threshers their first lead of the evening.
After taking a 2-1 lead into the intermission, Dashney was presented with a free kick opportunity in the 64th minute. She put the ball into the box, finding the head of
Briseis Gomez, who beat the keeper giving Bethel the two goal advantage.
In the 86th minute, the Warriors were awarded a penalty kick following a yellow card on Bethel's keeper
Mariah Vallejo. Sterling converted on the opportunity, cutting the Thresher lead back down to one.Â
The Threshers were successful in holding off the Warriors late press as they took the contest 3-2.
Bethel will be back in action for their final contest of the regular season on Saturday, October 28th as they host the Avila Eagles for Senior Night at 5:30 PM.
