NORTH NEWTON, Kan. - After a two hour lightning delay, the contest between Bethel College and Friends University finally got underway.
With water pooling on the field due to the heavy rain, both teams struggled to move the ball in the first quarter.
Friends was able to find the endzone three times in the second quarter for the first halves only scores as the Falcons held a 19-0 lead at the break.
Bethel continued to struggle slowing down the Falcons in the second half as Friends put up three more touchdowns before the contest was suspended once again with just 90 seconds left in the third quarter.
After a conversation between officials, administration and coaches from both schools, the two sides decided to call the game where it sat during the suspension as the Falcons came away with the 43-0 victory.
Kayden Christiansen led the Threshers' rushing attack as he gained 62 yards.
Neither team attempted a pass in the contest.
Kade Miller recorded a game high 11 tackles in the contest, 2.5 for a loss totaling 14 yards.Â
Due to the weather, Bethel never got their senior night celebrations in. The team will do something in the coming weeks to celebrate their seniors that will be leaving the program at the conclusion of the season.
