NORTH NEWTON, Kan. - After falling behind 2-1, the Bethel College volleyball team won the final two sets over Evangel University, keeping their winning streak alive.
The Threshers took the opening set as five players recorded multiple kills in the 25-23 victory. Sets two and three went in favor of the Valor as they won both 25-20. In the two set losses, the Thresher attacks struggled, hitting a combined .158.
With their backs against the wall, Bethel pulled out a tight fourth set. The Threshers offense had its best set of the match in the fourth turning in 13 kills while hitting .237. In the decisive fifth set, Bethel jumped out to a quick 7-1 lead and never looked back as they were successful in fending off a Valor run late in the set taking it 15-9.
A trio of Threshers finished with double-digit kills led by
Cameron Offerle and
Kylah Carter with 14 apiece.
Darla Crow added in 10 kills in the victory.
Crow,
Harlie Hunton and
Jordan Boone all recorded 5+ blocks in the victory, led by Crow with 7.
Katey Wilhelm has continued to make an impact on the back row as she tallied 28 digs in the victory.
Kaitlyn Shima finished with a double-double recording 30 assists and 17 digs during the five sets.
This win moves the Threshers season record to 17-7, while remaining a perfect 6-0 in KCAC play.
Bethel will be back in action on Wednesday, October 11th as they travel to Hillsboro, Kan. to take on the Tabor Bluejays with first serve scheduled fro 7:00 PM.
