Career nights from McKinzie and Richards propel Threshers past Bulldogs

McPHERSON, Kan. - The Bethel College women's basketball team picked up their first victory of the season in their conference opener against McPherson College 82-58, giving Rocky Lamar his first victory as a Thresher.
 
Bethel jumped out to the early first quarter lead as Josie Stupey scored five of her seven points in the frame.
 
The only time the Threshers trailed in the contest came in the second quarter when they were down 28-26. Bethel responded by going on a 19-7 run, taking a 45-34 lead into the intermission.
 
Both teams lowest scoring quarters came in the third, with Bethel winning the quarter by three.
 
In the fourth, Bethel continued to press the issue, running in transition. They grew their lead to as much as 26 points in the final frame.

Five Threshers scored in double figures with the top two scorers in the contest.

Bethel scored 46 points in the paint in the victory.
 
Bethel out rebounded McPherson, 45-34. Twelve rebounds came on the offensive end.

Seven Threshers scored in the win, five in double figures, led by Natalie Richards' career high 21 points.
 
Madyson McKinzie finished with 18, Carley Robb had 12 while Kendall Locke and Caryn Yoder both finished with 11 points.
 
McKinzie recorded her first career double-double as she pulled in a game high 12 boards to go along with her 18 points.
 
Bethel shot over 65% from the floor in the second quarter on their way to scoring 28 points.
