Women's Basketball drops conference home opener to Bethany

NORTH NEWTON, Kan. - The Bethel College women's basketball team fell to 1-1 in KCAC play as they dropped their home conference opener to the Swedes 73-63.

Bethel fell behind by eight at the end of the first quarter, but rallied back in the second quarter outscoring Bethany by six to trail by just two points at the intermission.

The Swedes keyed on freshman Kendall Locke all game, doing their best to remove her from the Threshers' offensive plan. However, she broke free in the second quarter scoring ten of her 11 points in the frame.

Bethel held an early third quarter lead, but Bethany answered back to take a seven point lead into the final quarter.

Following a Swede basket to start the fourth quarter, Carley Robb hit back-to-back threes, cutting the lead down to just three. Bethel couldn't quite get over the hump as they never got the contest closer than three points in the final quarter.
