NORTH NEWTON, Kan. - The Bethel College women's basketball team fell to 1-1 in KCAC play as they dropped their home conference opener to the Swedes 73-63.
Bethel fell behind by eight at the end of the first quarter, but rallied back in the second quarter outscoring Bethany by six to trail by just two points at the intermission.
The Swedes keyed on freshman
Kendall Locke all game, doing their best to remove her from the Threshers' offensive plan. However, she broke free in the second quarter scoring ten of her 11 points in the frame.
Bethel held an early third quarter lead, but Bethany answered back to take a seven point lead into the final quarter.
Following a Swede basket to start the fourth quarter,
Carley Robb hit back-to-back threes, cutting the lead down to just three. Bethel couldn't quite get over the hump as they never got the contest closer than three points in the final quarter.

The difference in the contest came at the charity stripe where Bethel shot eight less attempts and made seven less than Bethany.

Bethel scored 24 points in the paint in the victory.
The Threshers scored 25 points off of 18 Swede turnovers.
Bethel was out rebounded by Bethany, 35-32. Eight of Bethel's rebounds came on the offensive end.
Those eight offensive rebounds led to just five second chance points.
Eight Threshers scored in the loss, three in double figures, led by
Josie Stupey's 17 points.
Carley Robb added in 13 points, while
Kendall Locke finished with 11 points.
